Classification Of Buffalo

Asia is the native home of the water buffalo, with 95% of the world population, with about half of the total in India. Many Asian countries depend on the water buffalo as their primary bovine species. It is valuable for its meat and milk, as well as the labor it performs.

Murra :
Murra is milk producer buffalo. It is found in hariana, rohitak, hisar, karnal, dilli of India.
the color of this time of buffalo is black. Body structure and size is big. Head is smaller than body. Adult buffalo range in size from 400 to 550 kg  for the domestic breeds. It is famous for milk. This buffalo gives 1400-2000 liter milk in a year. The quantity of fat in milk is 7%.



Nili :
There is similarity between Murra and Nilli. The charecterstic of those type of buffalo is about same but there is some difference in physical structure. It is found in Pakistan and India.
the color of this time of buffalo is black. Body structure and size is medium. Head is medium. Adult buffalo range in size from 450 to 600 kg  for the domestic breeds.


Ravi :
This type of buffalo is famous for milk.
it is  found in various place of Pakistan and India. the color of this time of buffalo is black. Body structure and size is big . Head is also big. Adult buffalo range in size from 600 to 645 kg  for the domestic breeds.


Jafrabadi :
This type of buffalo is famous for milk and domestic work.
It is found in western side of India such as Gujarat, gir, jafrabad.
.the color of this time of buffalo is black. Body structure and size is big . Head is small. Adult buffalo range in size from 500 to 585 kg  for the domestic breeds.


Water buffalo :
water buffalo are thought to survive in Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Nepal , Bhutan  and Thailand. water buffalo range in size from 400 to 900 kg (880 to 2,000 lb) for the domestic breeds, while the wild animals are nearly 3 m (9.8 ft) long and 2 m (6.6 ft) tall, weighing up to 1,200 kg (2,600 lb); females are about two-thirds this size. River buffalo are usually black, have curled horns, and are native to the western half of Asia, The water buffalo rumen has been found to contain a larger population of bacteria, particularly the cellulolytic bacteria, lower protozoa and higher fungi zoo spores. In addition, higher rumen ammonia nitrogen (NH4-N) and higher ph have been found as compared to those in cattle.
